Halfway done with writing
Hello everyone,
I managed to get to the midpoint of the novel. I am surprised that I got here in the way that I did. I had different plans for how things should have turned out but the characters are leading me down their own chosen paths. I can't seem to stop them from doing what they apparently always planned on doing.
I have reached 26k words and am content with what I have. It's been a tough month for me, November, but as more time passes, my flame seems to burn brighter again. I see different lines I can take now for all characters involved. I see their pain. I feel it. And I can write about it. It's cathartic. It's also soul-scorching. But I love every second of it. It's...liberating. I must have had a lot more bundled up than I thought I had on the inside for it to erupt as much as it did in my writing.
There are parts that feel so real. To me at least. In truth, I am writing the novel that I would like to read. That's maybe why it feels so good to go at it almost every day. I've kind of stabilized with my financials and that has definitely helped calm me down. I can now focus on writing again.
I really like Rowan and Ben. I love both of them. Maybe because they're both parts of me but with their own quirks and differences. It's like a somewhat distorted mirror I can look into and see different versions of what I could have been "if".
For a change, I'm enjoying my time writing. I'm aiming to finish Graven by the end of the month. It was the right call to give it and me time to breathe. It's paying off in what I wrote and that makes me very happy.
The biggest benefit to writing everything in one go is that I can go back and add stuff without making things weird later on. Some stuff comes up and I can easily implement everything without any hassle. If this goes on, I suspect I won't finish by the end of December, but that only means the story got more interesting. So, kind of win-win?
As always, thanks for your support.
I hope you will enjoy Graven as much as I do.
See you in Kazuul!
